What Size Eggs Do You Offer?
Little Rhody Natural Eggs are available in three sizes: Large, Extra Large and Vegetarian-Fed Jumbo.

Are Your Eggs Washed Before Packaging For Retail?
Absolutely! Once a hen lays an egg, the egg goes through a washing, grading and weighting process before being packaged for retail.

What type of packaging do you use for your Little Rhody Natural eggs and is your packaging considered earth-friendly?
Our eggs are currently offered in both #1 PET plastic (Polyethylene terephthalate) and cardboard packaging, depending on store location and product availability. This provides our valued customers with the option to choose between our attractive, clear container and our standard cardboard egg carton. With our #1 PET plastic container, consumers may easily check eggs and take advantage of the benefits of #1 PET plastic. With our cardboard egg carton, consumers will have the ability to recycle the container in RI.

The advantages of #1 PET plastic is that it provides added protection from breakage, cracking and leaking. However, even though #1 PET plastic is recyclable in RI, today’s RI recycling standards do not allow the shape of the egg carton to be recycled. Next year, Rhode Island is planning to reform its standards on recycling exclusions. Until this occurs, our cardboard egg containers are available and may be recycled or composted in RI.

It is our hope to provide our loyal customers with the freshest products and also to care and respect our environment. We are always looking for new and innovative ways to reach this goal. For example, we tried a nature-based container that would have a lower carbon footprint, but it drove the cost for consumers too high. Based on the safety and sustainability features of #1 PET plastic, it was an easy decision to make the switch back to #1 PET plastic and also provide the recyclable cardboard option to consumers, as well. Please refer to the following link to our supplier’s (Interplast Packaging) website for more information on the benefits of the materials used in our plastic egg cartons.
